Elm Branch Silvermine River

BACK to the West Branch.

The name "Elm Branch" occurs on old land records and seems very well suited to a stream that flows along Elmwood Road in Lewisboro. Its source is just south of West Lane, 1/2 mile west of the source of the West Branch. A tributary reaches further west, to the watershed's westernmost pond, which lies at the intersection of Kitchawan Road and Route 123.

The Town of Lewisboro obtained one of the old farms along Elmwood Road through a generous donation by its former owner, Alice Lane Poor. The town uses the splendid farmhouse to hold several municipal offices and some of the fields for sports.
