Behind
the Congregational Church in Wilton
Center, the Comstock
Brook goes over a beautiful natural
waterfall, which gave the stream its
old name, the "Falls Branch" (of the
Norwalk River). The falls were the site
of Benjamin Hickox's grist and saw mills,
built in the 1720's. Below the falls,
the Comstock Brook flows a short distance
eastward and joins the Norwalk River.
Public
footpaths have been built along the
Norwalk River at Merwin's Meadows, north
of Wilton Center, and also at Schenck's
Island Park, south of Wilton Center.
Trout fishing is very popular in this
area.
